The FFG-funded research project HELOW – hard coatingsas erosion protectionfor laser-structured surfacesin wind power– runs from October 2024 to September 2027. The aim is to increase the longevity and efficiency of wind turbines.
The micro- and nanostructuring of surfaces using ultrashort pulse lasers reduces icing, while ceramic hard coatings increase their wear resistance. These measures are intended to increase energy efficiency on the one hand and reduce maintenance costs on the other. Further information can be found in the FFG project database.
