At the beginning of the Energiewerkstatt, there was an independent energy advice centre and club evenings, educational trips and solar collector self-build courses were organised.
Over the years, the focus turned to the development and use of wind energy. The first self-built wind turbines showed the enormous potential and so the first citizen participation projects for the construction of larger, more efficient turbines in the 500 kW class also developed.
Around three and a half decades later, Energiewerkstatt is a highly specialised technical consultant that now operates internationally.
