As part of a project of the European Space Agency ESA, the Energiewerkstatt is currently working on the creation of a new wind atlas for Austria. As an experienced partner in the field of wind measurement and wind potential analysis, Energiewerkstatt is contributing its extensive expertise to this project. It already played a leading role in the development of the Austrian wind atlas and a comprehensive wind potential study between 2009 and 2011. The current update of the wind atlas should be completed by 2026 and will then be available to the public.
The project is part of the Europe-wide Green Transition Information Factories (GTIFs), which provide actionable information from Earth observation for the green transition and adaptation to climate change. GTIFs produce spatial content from Earth observation data that helps to quantify and better understand the complexity of transitioning our energy and mobility sectors to climate neutrality. With its many years of experience and expertise, Energiewerkstatt makes a decisive contribution to creating a sound basis for decisions on the further expansion of wind power.
