The Open House of Culture VöcklabruckOKH Vöcklabruck for short, is a local cultural provider and at the same time a space of opportunity for future models in the region: cultural exchange and the diversity of contemporary art form an “urban bay” with an anchor function on the Vöckla. As part of a three-year cooperation, it is supported by the Energiewerkstatt and this is helping to drive forward planned sustainability projects at OKH Vöcklabruck.
A photovoltaic system was recently installed on the roof of the building, which has been generating environmentally friendly electricity since mid-January 2025 . An impressive 5.8 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity were already produced in the first two and a half months. The company’s own consumption during this time was 4.9 MWh – so even in the less sunny and more energy-intensive season, more electricity was produced than the OKH Vöcklabruck consumed. In addition, a 50 kWh storage system ensures more efficient use of solar energy, but 2.4 MWh was still drawn from the grid, while 3.3 MWh was fed into the grid.
In order to make even better use of the energy generated, the next sustainable development is imminent: a non-profit generation plant (GEA) will in future supply surplus electricity to the YOUX youth center in the form of an energy community. YOUX youth centerthe Otelo technology laboratory and the after-school care containers of the municipality of Vöcklabruck. While the OKH Vöcklabruck actively produces green energy and everyone at the site benefits from it, Energiewerkstatt supports forward-looking projects with its sponsorship. Together, they are making a valuable contribution to the energy transition.
