The Austrian Wind Energy Interest Group, IGW for short, recently published a guideline on the distances between wind turbines and oil and gas pipelines. This was necessitated by the increase in wind turbines over the last 15 years and the current political objective of supporting further strong expansion.
To date, there are no project-wide studies or scientifically verifiable guidelines in Austria that deal with the distances between wind turbines and oil or gas pipelines on the basis of risk assessment considerations. In order to provide concrete assistance for project planning and assessments, the present
IGW guideline on distances between wind turbines and oil and gas pipelines
which the Energiewerkstatt played a key role in developing. It contains information on areas of application, minimum distances and an individual project assessment.
