Last year, the Vorarlberg state parliament decided to have the wind energy potential surveyed and commissioned the
Energy Workshop
to prepare a well-founded factual basis for the use of wind power in Vorarlberg. On April 18, 2023, the “Wind Atlas Vorarlberg 2023” and the subsequent
analysis “Wind Energy Potential Vorarlberg”.
were presented by Governor Markus Wallner and
Provincial Councillor Daniel Zadra
as well as Alexander Stökl as
responsible for the project
on the part of the
Energy Workshop
.
As
possible
wind energy areas
are estimated at around
113 square kilometers
in Vorarlberg, which is 4.3% of the state’s surface area. The Pfänder Ridge and western parts of the Bregenzerwald show the highest potential, and there are also small areas in the Allgäu and Lechtal Alps, in the Rätikon-Silvretta area and in the Feldkirch region. At the presentation, Governor Markus Wallner emphasized that “every step towards renewable energy is a good one”.
